5 Signs That You Are Financially Stressed

Sign that you are financially stressed

This particular blog is very real to me because I feel like I am writing my life story

Money stress is no joke, it is so serious that sometimes you might not even know that it is the reason for your bad mood, you will just be vexing up and down for no reason, and meanwhile it’s your bank balance that is vexing you.

I remember an instance, years ago, I was at the junction trying to get a cab after work and there were other people there as well and all of a sudden 2 men started quarreling, an older man and a much younger man.

The issue was quite small and inconsequential and the next thing the older man was preparing to exchange blows with this younger guy.

The man next to me shook his head with so much sadness and said, “see wetin frustration dey cause! If no be frustration why this respectable looking man go wan fight this small boy for public like this” And I totally agree with him.

Even though the effects of money stress might not be expressed like this by everyone, there are other ways you might be stressed by your financial condition.

1. You avoid your bank balance and statements like a plague:

A lot of times we act like an ostrich in times of trouble by hiding our head in the sand, and we don’t want to face the problem. I was the chairlady of doing this. After I have spent money on random, pointless things and I receive the alert for my ‘foolishness”, I don’t open it because I know that I won’t like what I would see.

2. You feel like your salary has already finished before you receive it

This happens when you owe people money or a major outstanding financial burden, or your basic expenses exceeds your income. This can be very stressful because you don’t feel like you are not going anywhere with your life. Just stuck at  point A. You may also feel like you are not enjoying the reward of your hard work.

3. You constantly feel anxious and discouraged:

The feeling of hopelessness is constantly looming over you because you are surrounded by all these bills and you don’t know how to pay them or you wonder when you will ever be able to earn enough to meet all your never ending needs/wants.

4. Your relationships are strained:

When we are stressed and unhappy, the people around us usually suffer for it. We lash out at the slightest provocation, or you and your spouse are always quarreling about money.

5. Your health begins to deteriorate:

Have you seen that meme about being sick and only alert will make you feel better. A lot of the time, it is true. The body is such an amazing machine that issues of the mind affect the body very quickly. You start having high blood pressure, you start catching the flu easily because your immunity is down because of the stress, you have body pains because you are tense all day and can’t relax. Alert sickness is a real thing! Don’t play with it.

If this is your current condition, fear not, most of us have all been there and got out, and so can you. You need money therapy. Your finances need a makeover. The sooner you begin the journey to financial freedom and peace the better.
